How much do I crochet?

How much do I crochet vs how much time do I crochet?  Honestly, I'm really horrible at tracking my time and that includes the time I've spent making little plushies. I am fairly good at tracking what I'm accomplishing each day, so with the next steps I could calculate how much time I spend in a given day or week fairly easily.

I was given advice by a fellow crochet entrepreneur, Camryns Cute Creations, to track the time it takes me to make an item and use that with a pricing strategy. She created a great "pricing calculator tool" that is available at a minimal costI'm not the fastest crochetor and I have tracked a few of my items - the snake for example is 40" long takes me about 2 hours to complete. I'll plan out a week of my crocheting and plan on crocheting a few smaller amigurumi items or take a couple days to complete a larger item.

Special shout out to Camryn for her pricing calculator! - check it out here

What I do love to know is what I've made in a week or a month and how many of them I've made. I have a cute little calendar that I track both work and personal tasks and using a few bullet journal techniques such as checkmarks, arrows for moving, Xs for oops didn't do; its fairly easy to manage. Each sunday I plan out what I would "like" to make and pencil them in on each day of the following week.  I then get to check them off - move them to a different day or just X them and perhaps choose them for the next week. If I make multiples on a given day I'll mark them with a number of how many I've made.

My holiday weekly planner (from Dec 18 to Dec 31st) was truly inspiring - I made 18 mini octos, 3 axolotls, 2 yoda bombs, a gator, 2 big pickles, 2 medium pickles, 5 chickens, a frog lovey, finished my trash panda, and started a dragon from Crochet Magical Creatures book.

First week of 2024 I added a dinosaur lovey an elephant lovey, finished a penguin, 4 yoda bombs and a pink triceratops (following Nicole Chases Mini Tanner Triceratops pattern).

Looking back I find I crochet about 18 items a week; last week was slower since I was getting back to the 9 to 5 work shift and cleaningup/decluttering after the holidays, but still happily completed 9 decent sized items. If your curious this week is unicorn and sheep loveys, pocket triceratops, baby and medium possums....perhaps some fidget worms. As always, I love crocheting and have given one-on-one sessions for those interested in learning or just learning more and love sharing any knowledge I have collected over the years. If you have any interest in learning more please sign up for my patreon list to be the first to know of new content.
